I was invited by Downtown Fredericton to ‘bring it downtown’ and try new things. Although I had thought I’d seen and done everything downtown I am happy to report I was wrong! I discovered a source for overall well-being, new cuisine, delicious drink, and fun shopping.
My first stop was at Satori ~ Centre for Well-Being located at 441 King Street (above Savage bike shop) where I met with Stephanie Guitar for an Ayurvedic consultation. Stephanie is an Ayurvedic Practitioner, massage therapist, yoga specialist and owner of Satori. Ayurveda is known as the worlds oldest medical system and uses food, lifestyle and herbal remedies as medicine based on your specific needs. I highly recommend you check out these services for yourself. Also interesting to note that besides offering yoga classes, massage, physiotheraphy, etc Satori has its own Karma Shop offering yoga clothes, artistic greeting cards, oils, spices, soaps, teas, herbs and much more!
Last Friday night I went downtown to enjoy the Moonlight Madness event and experienced/explored more new things. I shopped at Endeavours/ThinkPlay and was surprised to find that they have so much more to offer than just the paints and canvasses! The candy counter offered something for everyone’s tastes and I found lots of unique toys that I just haven’t seen anywhere else in the city. I was able to pick up a few more Christmas gifts which I know my neices will love. Everyone at the store was helpful & friendly!
I dined at Naru Japanese Cuisine restaurant and experienced sushi for the first time. The server, Heidi, was helpful and made great suggestions from the menu. I loved the Gyoza! and was seriously satisfied after the Portebello tempura, Blue Mountain roll and Veg Caterpillar roll. Delicious!
For dessert I ventured down to the Corked Wine Bar on Regent Street and was treated to a wonderful glass of red wine! Cupcake Merlot was the suggestion for a smooth rich taste and it didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere of the bar offers great charm and provides something out of the ordinary. My friends and I are already planning our next visit.
I strongly recommend you challenge yourself to ‘bring it downtown’ too and explore something new! There are tons of options and I’ll help you pick something out if you need some suggestions!
